San Francisco Reading: the poetic gestures of the Polis

Some photos from the release reading for Este Jardín  in San Francisco at Bird and Becket on September 10th. A notable event in many regards, none the least of which was the diversity of poetic hand gestures.

Zachary Martin used the quick trigger action of his right hand to generate enough electricity to turn the page without touching it.

Nicholas James Whittington with an understated hand whispering, almost as if urging the the audience to his side.

Carrie Hunter chooses to steer the listener with poem as others might drive a Pirus.

Christina Fisher used light flips said to have been adapted from years of study in classical Greek oration.

Lewis Ellingham, with perhaps the most refined stroke of them all,  hoovers over the page like a humming bird before quickly and authoritatively darting to the next page.
